Bat on my sidewalk?
September 30th, 2009 | by Michael |Damion E asked:
I walked outside for a smoke about 45 minutes ago and I saw just put a block on the side walk. ? seemed to have fallin from or have lost their grip on the roof. I examined the pi? closely and I saw that made it two blocks to the child's attack on the other side. Grabed a paper plate and a broom and I screwed up on the plate and putting it on the table in the courtyard so that the cats out the front not to disrupt it. I left the? about 5 minutes ago and it was no where to be seen. I was just wondering if the block with the young attached to its side to take the flight or something. I just want to know why? im kind of Softy when the little animals lol. just want to know if the approval

Your bat probably fell from the tree and was stunned from the fall. After you swept it up ant took it to safety, it came around and flew away. Bats will fly in the daytime, but they generally wait until night when they have fewer predators to worry about and they can readily find insects to eat around street lights and such.
It’s really interesting that you saw a bat with suckling young–I’ve seen a lot of bats, but I’ve never seen that before. Cool!

Probably took off or is hiding somewhere. Be careful not to let it in the house or touch it–they are notoriouos for carrying rabies virus.

Wow, that was a great find. You probably will never see that again in your entire life. You did a good thing! Congrats.
Too bad you did not watch it from a distance for a while.
It probably lost grip and fell as you believe. When it hit ground it was most likely stunned. Hopefully it regained its composure and flew off back to a good hiding place.

We get bats in our yard and driveway alot during the summer in the day time. Don’t worry about it. That bat probably woke up and realized that he needed to get somewhere safer. She’ll be fine! No worries!
