Should I get a human rabies vaccination? Possible bat “exposure”?

Today I found a block in my home around midday on in the bathroom (sleep at the top level). My husband has obtained from the house and we have found where it came from the attic. I didn 't even think of keeping it. Also we have seen tonight is a hole outside the house from attic and it seems that the blocks are going in and out of it. So if you wake up and find a block in your bedroom that you should consider exposed and seek treatment. Presupporrei since the blockade was in the same room that is entered in through the attic does not have probabaly never left that room. But with the blocks that get in the attic, one could 'entered the VE and went back into the attic and not know why. If we get shots of human rabies in which we go? Anyone who has had this done, because it is defective? And there are dangers in getting the shots? lacking even ask … we will have quarantined? I work with the public, I will have to miss work?

Exposure happens only through a bite, or if saliva from an infected bat gets into your eyes or mouth.
The reason they say if you wake up and find a bat in your bedroom, you should seek treatment is that the bite marks are tiny. So, presumably, one could sleep through a bite, and not notice it the next day.
The regimen of shots involve six shots given over 28 days.
The good news is that shots are no longer given in the stomach, so they’re not horribly painful.
Every shot has potential side effects, but the reported reactions to rabies shots are low.
The important thing is if you really think you might have been biten, you need to see your doctor immediately. Exposures have to be treated quickly for the vaccine to be effective.

I had a bat in my bedroom when I first moved into my house. It didn’t bite me and I didn’t come into contact with its saliva and I was fine. I don’t think you can get rabies just by being in the same vicinity as a bat…you need to actually be bitten by it.

This happened to me, let me tell you the whole story. I was 13 years old, sleeping in my bedroom, the attic door is in my room. At two in the morning, I felt something on my foot, I thought I was dreaming, and went back to sleep. About 10 minutes later, I woke up again, and felt something on my head, I turned around and I saw this brown thing, I thought it was left over hair from when I had brushed my hair earlier, I laid my head back down, and it started to move. I went to parents room and told them there was something in my room. My dad came in, and sure enough, it was a bat. It had come into my room through the tiny ***** in the attic door. We kept the bat, had it tested, and although it didn’t have rabies, I had to get all the vaccinations including the rabies one. There is no harm in getting it, it covers you for 10 years and you don’t have to worry about it. I had some of the shots done at the hospital, and some at my doctor. This is how the shots work, the first time, you get one in each butt, and one in your left arm. You then go back 3 days later, and get one in your right arm, then you go back 4 days later, and one in your left, the pattern continues until you reach 10 days later, continuing to alternate in each arm. They don’t hurt that much, the ones in your **** kinda do though. For any info, email me at
