How long will it take to attract bats to my bat house?

I live in Augusta, GA. I was wondering if the blocks were this time of year, or should I wait until spring to see them. Thank you.

Bat houses don’t always attract bats. If the bats like your house, they will show up.

my dad had a bat house in a tree until it totally rotted and no bats were ever seen living in it he had an owl house too that the squirels found cozy but never any owls

Cold weather will keep bats in hibernation. I live in zone 5 so I won’t see them until late April. They would probably hibernate a Little in your area. One Guage is if mosquito’s are out, bats will probably be too.
Bats need their house in a somewhat shady area with a eastern exposure. If you have some bat dropping smear it on the house, it will attract the bats.
I have bat house on trees down by the creek to keep the bats away from the house but in the yard and busy eating mosquito’s. Denise http:thegardenersrake.com

I built three bat houses ten years ago. For five of those years not one bat. Then my neighbor tore down and old building and then two of the bat houses filled up. I still don’t know why they don’t like the third one. It’s built the same as the others and in similar locations. RScott
